If you’re not getting great results on LinkedIn, I have the solution.
Have you ever asked yourself why you’re still on LinkedIn if all you keep getting are connection messages from people who want to sell you something? I hear this from people often, and it happens to me too. These people connect with you, then spew out everything they want to sell you, but they don’t even know you.
So why bother keeping a professional LinkedIn profile? Because you have the control; does your banner brand consistently with your other materials? Is your profile picture a professional headshot? Does your headline tell people who you are, what you do, and what problem you solve?
It’s not going to stop; people are going to continue to try to connect just to sell you things. That doesn’t mean you have to participate. You can send a connection message that is classy, personalized, and will merit a response. However, to get that response, you have to show up dressed for the party.
Most people I see are in the LinkedIn witness protection program, meaning they hardly get found, and when they do, people are confused about who they are. If you want to change the results you’re getting on LinkedIn, change how you present yourself. Create a banner that reflects your brand. You can go to canva.com, and do it for free.
When you do get those sales-y messages from people, just hit “ignore.” Make sure you’re sending out at least five personalized connection requests daily, and ensure that when someone looks at your profile, it’s clear who you are and what you do.
One of my clients recently told me that once I updated his profile, someone from Germany reached out and wanted to hire him for a significant amount of money to come speak in Deutschland! When he asked them “Why me?” they said they found his LinkedIn profile and were impressed; every question they had was answered. That could be you!
If you’d like to discuss this further or book an appointment with me, hit the connect button or give me a call. I would love to help you. Let’s get you out of LinkedIn witness protection!
