Here’s how you should reconnect with people on LinkedIn in the new year.

Happy 2021! I don’t know about you, but I’m sure glad 2020 is over. Today I’m discussing how you can use the new year to reconnect with first-level connections. 

One of the simplest ways is to create a video to send to them. You don’t need to personalize it by saying their name, but it could go something like this: “Hi, I’m reaching out because I want to know how 2020 went for you. If you had the kind of year I did, let’s talk. Let’s keep it in the no-sale zone and see how we can be resources for one another. I put a link below to my calendar, and I look forward to speaking with you. Thanks so much, stay safe, and stay healthy.” Of course, you could also write that into a message and personalize it. 

You will be astonished by how much people want to hear from you if you’re coming from a genuine place of caring. Remember: LinkedIn is a platform for serving, not selling. However, sales will happen, I promise. If you make the habit of reaching out to at least five connections per day that you want to connect or reconnect with, magic will happen.
